Arson Web Tip

The Beverly Police Department, Beverly Fire Department, and the State Fire Marshall’s Office are looking for help in solving two fires that occurred in the early morning hours of August 25th. The first and most dangerous fire took place at 25 Folger Avenue in the Ryal Side area of Beverly. A vehicle was set deliberately set on fire, which in turn, spread to the house, where inside a family was sleeping. The family escaped but the potential for causing loss of life was significant. Two other cars were also burned and destroyed in the fire. A second car fire broke out hours later, just down the street on Hersey Avenue. This vehicle had also been deliberately set on fire. It appears in both fires that the vehicles had been broken into and the contents of the glove box removed and set on fire. There were several vehicles in the Ryal Side area that were broken into and vandalized on this night.

“If someone has information they are withholding regarding these fires, they need to come forward, as the person(s) responsible are a danger to our community.” stated Chief Mark Ray. Although there are several leads being investigated, any information, or even the slightest tip, could help to solve the case. There is a reward of up to $5000 now being offered through the Arson Watch Reward Program. Any information can be passed along anonymously by calling the state Arson Watch Hotline at 1-800-682-9229, the Beverly Police Detective Division at 978-921-6046 ext 16, or the Beverly Fire department at 978-922-2424.
