General Investigations




The Criminal Investigation Division of the Beverly Police Department provides investigative services to the citizens of the community. 

The Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division, Lt. Will Terry, is responsible for coordinating, supervising and administrating the daily activities of the division.   The division consists of the following personnel:

  • Sergeant of Detectives who is responsible for overseeing the Sex Offender Registry and supervising the division’s 2 Drug Detectives.

  • Juvenile Detective who is responsible for investigating all sexual assaults and juvenile related incidents.

  • Detective who specializes in Crime Scene Photography, Computer related Crimes, and Property Crimes.
     

It is the responsibility of the Investigation Division to identify and interview witnesses and suspects, gather evidence and prepare cases for criminal prosecution through the juvenile, district and superior court.

Investigators also serve subpoenas for the courts, process evidence; participate in countywide task force operations in addition to providing support to the patrol division.

The Beverly Police Department requires the detectives to undergo an extensive and comprehensive training in the field of Criminal Investigations.  Detectives have attended specialized investigative training in such areas as Homicide Investigations, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Investigations, Crime Scene Processing and Preservation of Evidence.
