Juvenile Investigations

Juvenile Detective

The Juvenile Detective investigates crimes and incidents of a specific age group within the City of Beverly. Serving as the Juvenile Court Prosecutor, the Officer is closely aligned with the District Attorney's Juvenile Justice Program, which offers diversion for first time offenders, as well as Drug Court, or supervised probation. Through this collaborative effort, both agencies strive to redirect young offenders, to reduce or eliminate recidivism of those who do offend.

Serving as the primary point of contact for the Essex County Child Abuse Project, and the Department of Child and Family Services, the Juvenile Detective investigates incidents of child abuse and neglect, as well as sexual assaults. The Officer is actively involved with youths at risk, runaways, and area Group Homes.

Juvenile Officers both past and present have shared a positive long standing working relationship with the Beverly Public Schools, and interact regularly to ensure the safety of our student population, in school, at home, within their neighborhoods, and as technology would have it, "on line".

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts defines a "Juvenile" as persons between the ages of seven and seventeen. Parents, guardians, and the community at large define this age group as their children and the next generation of productive citizens. The Beverly Police Department is dedicated to our youth and will continue to work wioth you to help them make positive decisions and achieve their goals.
